Yellow Potato Curry | Poori Kilangu | பூரி கிழங்கு

It was raining all day day here at my place . I was craving for some hot puffed up poori . In Tamil nadu , almost in most of the restaurant this poori is served with yellow potato curry which we call as Poori Kilangu . So I made this for our dinner and it was very comforting on a rainy day .  Off to the recipe now .

Yellow Potato Curry / Poori Kilangu / பூரி கிழங்கு

  • Potato - 5 no , boiled
  • Green chilli - 3 no, slit
  • Onion - 1 no , chopped
  • Ginger garlic paste - 2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds -1/2 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder -1tsp
  • Salt - To Taste
  • Water - 2 cups Or more , depending on the consistancy
  • Gram Flour / Besan flour  - 2 tsp
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Lemon Juice - 2 tsp

Yellow Curry Recipe

Peel the boiled potatoes and cut 3 potatoes  in to  small pieces and the remaining potatoes are to be mashed . Set aside . Take  the besan flour in a bowl add 1/4 cup water and mix . Set aside .
In a kadai,heat oil, add the mustard seeds allow it to pop , add urad daland fry  and then add cut onion and chilli  and cook till the onion become soft .

Add turmeric powder , ginger garlic paste and fry till the raw smell goes away . Now add 2 cups of water , salt and bring the contents to a boil . Add the mashed potato and chopped potatoes to the boiling water and mix .

Add the lemon juice to it mix . Check the water consistency . If more water is needed add more water . Now add the besan flour mixture to it and mix . The gravy will start to thicken . Turn off .

Serve hot with Puffed up poori or any flat breads of your choice .
