Pulikachal ,Sour tamarind curry/Puliodari, Tamarind Rice

Tamarind rice


Tamarind-5 lemon size

 Cooked rice -  2 cups
Red chillies - - 8 nos.
Fenugreek seeds - 2 table spoons
Black gram dal - 3 tsp
Bengal gram  3tsp
Mustard - 1 tsp
Curry leaves

Turmeric powder  - 1/2 tsp

Garlic pods-10 nos
hing- a pinch
Salt to taste
Gingely oil/Sesame oil  - 7 tsp

Preparation of pulikachal

In a bowl bring the water to boil, add the tamarind to it .Let it cool.Transfer this in to a mixer and make a fine paste.

In a kadai add little oil, add the 4 red chilli, 1 tsp of fenugreek seeds and 1 tsp of black gram and 1 tsp of urad dal and fry for a minute.Transfer these contents to the mixer and make a fine powder

 In a kadai add sesame oil, add the mustard seeds, urad dal , Bengal gram, garlic pods, hing,feunugreek seeds , 4 red chills slit,curry leaves and stir.

Now add transfer the ground coconut paste from the mixer to the kadai and add salt.

Cook till the raw smell goes away .

Now add the ground powder from the mixer to kadai and stir.

Cook till the curry oozes oil on top.

Preparation of tamarind rice.

In a large bowl, spread the cooked rice add 1 tsp of gingely oil to it and stir.

Now add the pulikachal to the rice and mix well.

Now tasty tamarind rice is ready.
