|Jerra Rice / Cumin seeds rice / jeeraga sadham|
This is a very simple, yet very flavorful and delicious rice . It could be prepared in 10 minutes.
Basmathi Rice - 2 cups , washed and soaked in water for half an hour
Cumin seeds / jeera - 2 tsp
Pepper corns - 1 tsp
Cinnamon stick - 1' stick
Clove - 4 nos
Bay Leaf - 1 no
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
Oil / Ghee - 2 tsp
Water - 3 cups
Salt - to taste
In a pressure cooker heat oil / Ghee , add the cinnamon stick , cloves , bay leaf and stir fy for 30 seconds.
Now add the cumin seeds, pepper corns and roast them in oil / Ghee .
Add the Ginger garlic paste and fry till the raw smell goes away.
Add the water , salt and bring it to boil.
Now add the basmathi rice to the water and pressure cook them for 1 whistle.
Remove from heat, and allow it to rest for another 5 minutes.
Now open the pressure cooker and give a gentle stir to mix the contents uniformly.
Serve hot with raitha or any curry.
